Burley OUT

The mighty Saints are in real trouble. The club is making a beeline for administration. Burley is tactically inept. Plays everybody out of position. Never picks the same team twice. Buys crap.

The sign of a bad manager is when the team is weaker that the sum of the individual parts suggests it should. Burley has made that an artform.

The sign of a good manager is when the team is stronger than the sum of the individual parts. Roy Keane showed how that works last year. The players at Saints were significantly better than the dros Keane had to work with, but Sunderland were in a different league to Saints (and now they are literally).

I suspect we can't afford to fire Burley. So no doubt things will get worse before they get better. But that's ok - it is the club motto after all.

Hoddle started the rise of the Saints. Strachan took it to the summit. When Strachan left I wanted Hoddle back. I was in the minority. If Hoddle had come back when Strachan left, or when Sturrock left, chances are Saints would never have got relegated. But the fans got their way and here we are.

Lets forgive Hoddle for the mistakes he made in his former life and get him back.

There is local precedent. Harry Fartknocker (who referred to Saints as "they" in every interview he did whilst at Saints) went back to Skatesmouth (whereupon "we" reappeared) and look what happened. Lets learn from our fishy friends. Or we will be the next Leeds.

Names

Some names make you chuckle. This amused me for about 10 minutes. Because i is 3.

Player called crackyourase (which I initially misread as crackyourarse, erm naturally).

I told him he should have gone for yourarsecrack or better still you'rearsecrack.

If I ever join Sky poker "you'rearsecrack" is the name I will choose.

I can picture Kara now.

The secret is out

SMSpecial aka Dr Razz and top Razzle Dazzle poker player has been signed up by stoxpoker. And his first Razz video is out. I haven't paid so I haven't watched it. But I think I will have to.

I'm not sure if taking Razz to the mainstream is a good or bad thing. It would be nice to have a whole bunch of holdem players come and fill up the the tables (especially the tournaments), but it would be better if they don't know how to play.

The beauty of Razz is that its actually quite simple, but most people haven't got a clue. It won't take many videos to change that.

The other thing is that being good at Razz gives you a big edge in HORSE tourneys. I wouldn't want that to change either.

Tomorrow night is the FTOPS Razz event. Starts at 2AM. So I won't be in it. Too much work on to take Friday off. In fact I would probably need tomorrow off to get a good kip in first.

With Razz now in the FTOPS it looks like there will be 5 big on line Razz tournies per year (4xFTOPS, 1xWCOOP). So not many chances to hit a big cash. I think I have an edge over most of the field and need to be playing all of them.

Trying Poker Stars for a change. $11 Razz tourney. 48 entrants. Pays six. I am about to finish 7th.

And now its official 7th.

And this is now officially a problem. I don't care about scraping into the money - so that is not my problem.

I was in a good position with 8 left. Lost a hand and I'm in about 5th. We lose a player. Then I stay in too long in a hand at the 750/1500 level with A246 against the chip leader who has 35 showing -he then hits a 7 and a 2 i brick out but keep calling 2 more bets that I should. Cripple myself down to 1800 (should have had $4,800. The next lowest has 2,400. Its clear he is not going to play a hand until I am am out.

Hit the 200/1000/2000 level. Fold 3 hands. I have 1200 left and find 2 4 6. I complete with my last 998 and get three callers. It looks good when I hit a 7 and they start hitting bricks. But a 2 and the QQ means I lose to an 8.

There is an element of bad luck to this. But I am clearly also doing something wrong. Not sure what it is yet. I know this because I have bubbled about 7 out of the last 8 Razz tournies. Given that these things pays between 3 and 6. I should be cashing about 80% of the time. But the stats work in reverse.

My bubble rate in all comps on P Stars is phenomenal.

At the moment I think my Razz bubbling is about being overly aggressive, not employing enough card selection and not getting out as soon as I get behind. Also I must stop calling with 3 to a hidden 8. I think this my weakness. You hit a brick and feel you have to fold..

Very angry with myself at the moment. In the last 2 weeks I have left over a $1,000 of prize money on the table.
